Joyce Elaine Runkle Vandervort Cyr
Joyce Elaine Runkle Vandervort Cyr passed from this life Tuesday, June 9th, 2015 at the age of 84yrs.
Joyce was married to Charles Vandervort of Morton County, Kansas and had three children, Bruce, Randy and Charla. She was a devoted farm wife and mother. Charles passed in 1961 and the family moved to Liberal, KS.
Joyce met and married Gene Cyr and added brothers Doug and David, and sister Anita to the family. They shared many fun memories growing up and working on the farm.
Joyce loved spending time with her family, whether on the farm or after the children were grown, she delighted in having grandchildren visiting for the summer. She spent her life helping others, ministering and counseling countless women through the struggles of life. Joyce was known for having a flair for fashion and spent her spare time perusing stores or garage sales looking for ways to bless others with her “finds”.
Joyce is survived by Randy and Kelli Vandervort of Paola, KS., Charla (CJ) Collinsworth of Mission, KS., Doug Cyr of Sacramento, CA., Anita Cyr of Roberts MT., David Cyr of Hutchinson, KS, and Dan Runkle of Aransas Pass, TX. She was blessed by countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren she was so proud of.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mildred Runkle, brother John and sister Barbara (Carter), and one son, Bruce Vandervort.
A celebration of life will be held July 4th in Kansas City. In lieu of gifts, the family asks for donations to Alzheimer’s Association at HYPERLINK “http://www.alz.org”www.alz.org. Arrangements are in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
