Dodge City A’s post come-from-behind win

Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-A’s Coach David Flores called it his team’s worst stretch of baseball of the season; four losses in their previous six games entering a massive four-game series with Jayhawk-rival Liberal.

They needed a spark. Cue the drama.

Trailing 7-2 thanks in large part to the Bee Jays four-run fourth inning, Dodge City continued to chip away before Robbie Glendinning slapped a run-scoring single in the bottom of the eighth, eventually securing the A’s 8-7 victory Sunday night at Cavalier Field.

Ironically it was Glendinning that got the rally rolling the inning prior with a two-run single that capped off a three-run seventh.

A’s starter Max Green didn’t last very long, yielding six runs on nine hits in just four innings of work. He gave way to Kyle Orwig, who held the Bee Jays to one hit over the next three innings before giving way to Ashland native Giles Fox, who got Nick Brooks to ground into a game-ending double play in the final frame.
