Pearl Kathryn Cordwell

Pearl Kathryn Cordwell, 92, died May 15, 2015 at the Satanta Long Term Care Unit. She was born on October 21, 1922 in Barry County, Missouri, the daughter of Isaac Newton and Gertie Goldie (Evans) Gill. 

On December 11, 1951, she married Roy Cordwell in Clayton, New Mexico. He preceded her in death in 1988. Pearl owned and operated Pearl’s Cafe in Satanta for many years. She also worked at the Satanta District Hospital for 25 years. Pearl enjoyed fishing, hunting, crocheting, and bowling. 

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, and a past member of the Rebecca Lodge and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. 

Pearl is survived by two daughters, Janice Smith and husband Richard of Scott City and Shirley Poe of Fort Smith, Arkansas; one sister, Betty Wallace of Sublette, nine grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.In addition to her husband, Pearl is also preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Richard Smith; one granddaughter, Kayli Lawson; and one brother, Denver Gill. 

Funeral service will be held at Satanta United Methodist Church on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Kelvin Heitmann presiding. Burial will follow at Dudley Township Cemetery in Satanta. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Sublette on Sunday, May 17, 2015 from noon to 6:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Satanta Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
