Beth W. Carroll

Beth W. Carroll, 90 died Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born July 21, 1924 in Gypsum, Kansas the daughter of E.W. & Florence (Hedrick) Sutton.

Beth grew up in Gypsum, Kansas where she attended school and graduated from high school. She moved to Garden City in 1951 and has lived in Garden City since. Beth worked as the Finney County Treasurer for 23 years. She retired in 1987, but continued working part time until the early 1990’s. She was a member of the Garden City Church of the Nazarene, the Finney County Senior Center, and the Christian Motorcycle Association. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, and spending time with her family.

On September 18, 1964, she married James R. Carroll in Garden City. He died on 
January 5, 2011. Beth is also preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; three other brothers Everett Sutton, Francis Sutton, and Leonard Sutton; and five sisters Lucille French, Iris Snelson, Faye Pruitt, Fern Wythe, and Muriel Hoover.

Survivors include a daughter Jean Ann Henderson of Garden City, Ks.; two sons Douglas Pinkley of Leigh, Ne. and Ronald Ray Pinkley of Columbus, Ne.; a step-daughter Judith Ann Byerly of Garden City, Ks.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City with Rev. Don Patrick officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas. The family requests memorials given to the Garden City Church of the Nazarene in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
