Rachel Julianne Schaefer
Rachel Julianne Schaefer received her angel wings on Sunday, May 3, 2015. She passed at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas at the age of 49. Julie was a longtime resident of Emporia, Kansas. She had several different jobs throughout her time in Emporia. Her most recent job was working as the manager of the Finish Line gas station in Emporia. She was greatly loved and adored by many of the loyal customers that she grew to know over the years. Rachel was born to Sam and Lila Allen on August 28, 1965 in WaKeeney, Kansas. She grew up and attended schools in Ensign, Kansas.
Julie enjoyed spending time with family, especially her granddaughter Jayd. She loved to garden in the summertime and fish with her friends. Julie was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and KU Jayhawks fan. She also spent many Saturday and Sunday afternoons watching her favorite NASCAR racer, Clint Bowyer.
Julie, as everyone affectionately knew her, is survived by three sons, Dustin Allen and his fiancé Danielle, of Emporia, Rustan Dirks and his wife Melissa, of Emporia, and Jake Schaefer and his, wife Tori, of Ft. Carson, Colorado; her mother Lila Bryant; her sisters, Samarie Bridgewater; Jan Kurilla; her brothers, Francis Allen; Brian Allen; Roger Allen; Brad Allen; her grandchildren Jayd Allen; Kinley Dirks; Eden Schaefer and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Sam Allen; her sister Terry Lee; and her niece, Janell McCune.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 10:30 am at the Ensign Cemetery. There will be a lunch following at Keenagers in Ensign. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place.
