Lady Buffs soccer strikes gold; earns spot in North Cup semis
Wichita, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-The biggest luxury for Garden City girls soccer coach Joaquin Padilla is that his young team keeps getting chances to play. On Tuesday night, that paid major dividends.
Freshman Jasmine Ortiz scored in the 50th minute, while Amber Miller adding three goals as the Lady Buffaloes stampeded their way to a 6-0 victory over Wichita West in the opening round of the Wichita North Cup.
“All of us got a chance to play,” Ortiz said afterwards. “And we got a chance to shoot. The weather really didn’t play much of a factor.”
Megan Martinez added the other two goals.
The win moves the Buffaloes into the semifinals on Thursday vs. Circle at 3:30 p.m.
