Anna Lew Elsie Johnson
Anna Lew Elsie Johnson, 90, died April 29, 2015 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 8, 1924 at Dodge City the daughter of Nelson M. and Leila E. (Woolwine) Johnson.
Anna Lew graduated from Dodge City High School in 1942, Dodge City Community College in 1945, Grace Hospital School of Nursing in 1958, and Fort Hays State University in 1959. She worked as a school nurse for U.S.D. 443 for over twenty years. Anna Lew enjoyed reading, gardening, a multitude of hobbies, and most of all spending time with family and friends.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Daughters of American Revolution, Ford County Historical Society, Kansas Genealogical Society, and the Retired Nurses Association all of Dodge City.
Anna is survived by a sister, Georgene Nuss of Dodge City; two nephews, Charles Nuss and wife Leva of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Harlan Nuss and wife Debbie of Beeler; two nieces, Leila Goddard and husband Mike of Dodge City and Esther Temaat and husband John of Dodge City; great nephews and nieces, Jeff, Travis, Jonathan, Faye, Mikey, Amanda, Kristin, John, Justin, Ryan, James, Laura, and Christopher; and great great nieces and nephews, Madison, Amity, Bane, Noah, Izeah, Elizah, Raena, Talynn, William, and Parker.She was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Elmer Nuss and one great niece, Kimberly Nuss.
Funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Dodge City on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Lance Carrithers presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, May 1, 2015 from 12:00 – 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M.
