Buster softball sweeps Frank Phillips
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-Garden City did something Monday afternoon that they hadn’t done all season: win a third straight game.
Barb Nigon was dominant in the circle, spearheading Garden City’s twin killing of Frank Phillips 6-0 and 10-2 at Tangeman Sports Complex.
“We are getting more consistent, and that’s what I’m asking for,” Head Coach Becky Gundy said afterwards. “I was really proud of how the girls responded.”
Nigon was dominant in game one, allowing just three hits in the opener. Then, after Gundy pulled Rachel Roe in a rocky first inning and replaced her with Alexis Cantor, it was Nigon again coming in to slam the door. In the finale, she worked 4 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
