Buster softball splits with Hutch
Hutchinson, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-Rachel Roe threw a 107-pitch gem. And Garden City softball coach Becky Gundy needed every single one of them.
The sophomore allowed one run on seven hits while striking out five as the Busters took game one with Hutchinson 2-1.
“I thought we played really well in the first game. Rachel was dominant. In game two, I think we let the weather get to us. We weren’t mentally strong enough.”
In the finale, the Busters managed only two hits, losing 4-0. Brittany Olender handcuffed Garden City, fanning five in seven innings.
Her counterpart Barb Nigon gave up four runs on 11 hits.
With the split, Garden City moves to 6-4. Hutch is now 5-2.
