Margaret Elizabeth (Hughes) Marks
Margaret Elizabeth (Hughes) Marks, 90, died Monday, February 16, 2015 at the Catholic Care Center, Bel Aire, Kansas.
She was born March 6, 1924 at Arkansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Edward and Cora Etta (Snodgrass) Hughes. She was a graduate of Cimarron High School, Cimarron, Kansas. A Dodge City resident since 1944, moving from Cimarron, she was a sales associate for Wal-Mart for over 28 years, retiring in 2009.
She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City and was an avid seamstress and enjoyed quilting.
On June 14, 1948 she married John Norris Marks at Dodge City. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1997.
Survivors include: 2 sons, John and wife Marsha, Salt Lake City, Utah and Edward “Ned”, Stafford, Kansas; 2 daughters, Frances Kendall and husband Levon, Nixa, Missouri and Elizabeth “Jo” Stillwell and husband Kent, Wichita; a sister, Betty Gene Hughes, Showlow, Arizona; 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother and 2 sisters.
Vigil service will be 7:00 pm Friday, February 20, 2015 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Saturday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 901 Central Ave., Dodge City, with Fr. Wesley Schawe presiding. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 7:00 pm Friday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Greencrest Memorial Gardens, Dodge City.
