Colby wins GWAC Tournament title, Lippelmann wins 300th dual
Hugoton, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–In their final tournaments before regionals in two weeks, the Great West Activities Conference saw all six teams take the mats on Saturday at Hugoton High School at the annual GWAC Dual Tournament. Colby was the odds on favorite to win the tournament, and did so in dominating fashion. Scott City pushed their way towards the top for second place for their highest finish in four years. Ulysses, Hugoton and Holcomb garnered the final three spots, as Goodland finished third.
Saturday day was a special moment for one coach. Longtime Scott City Beaver Head Coach Jon Lippelmann won his 300th career-dual, as senior Lane Hayes helped secure the win at 285 pounds to give the Beavers a 36-28 win over Ulysses. Lippelmann has now won 302 after Saturday.

Scott City will travel to Cimarron on Tuesday for a dual, while Colby hosts Garden City Hugoton hosts Ulysses on Thursday, Regionals are February 20-21, with Colby and Goodland going to the Class 4A in Hays, Holcomb, Hugoton and Ulysses heading to the 4A Regional in Pratt, and Scott City to the Class 3-2-1A Regional in Norton.
