Church Wins Right to Stay Open During Legal Dispute with City
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) A federal judge in Wichita has issued a restraining order against Garden City barring any action to close the Mount Zion Church of God in Christ until their case challenging the city’s zoning ordinance is heard.
The city contends that the church at 606 N. Main is in violation of the downtown C-3 zoning ordinance barring places of worship from operating in downtown. Pastor Roger Bradshaw contends that his church has been there more than 10 years and that the city is violating his parishioners First Amendment Rights.
