Candidates React to Election Results

Topeka, KS (westernkansasnews.com) In a hotly contested race, Governor Sam Brownback defeats his Democratic opponent Paul Davis to win a second term in office.

Brownback ended with roughly a 33-thousand vote win. Davis knows its time to look ahead.

Ken Salazar is elected the new insurance commissioner while Kris Kobach and Derek Schmidt both win re-election as secretary of state and Attorney General.

US Senator Pat Roberts held off a challenge from Independent Greg Orman to win a fourth term by 90-thousand votes. Roberts returns to Washington with one goal of keeping the American dream alive.

Even in the loss, Orman complimented voters for the way they stepped up.

Voters overwhelmingly approved a change in the constitution to allow charitable organizations the ability to hold raffles.

Republican Congressman Tim Huelskamp had a relatively easy night winning re-election to a third term receiving 2/3 of votes cast.

Democrat Jim Sherow hung his hat on one big accomplishment.

Voters also retained Justices Lee Johnson and Eric Rosen.
