Restoring Cuts in Education Centerpiece of Davis Campaign
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Education has become the number one issue in the campaign for governor between incumbent Sam Brownback and his Democratic challenger Paul Davis. Brownback contends he increased spending to education after budget cuts under former Governor Mark Parkinson. Davis believes Brownback is just passing the blame.
The battle is where to cut taxes. Davis wants to keep property taxes in check and is worried about the long-term effects of eliminating the income tax as Governor Brownback wants to do.
Both candidates believe education is this year’s top issue.
