Buster men hang on for opening-night victory
Colby, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-The Garden City Broncbusters of Brady Trenkle pulled away in the second half to win the season opener 75-64 over the Northwest Kansas All Stars at the Taco John/Pizza Hut Classic at Colby. The game was tied at 33 at halftime and the All Stars stayed in the game with 47% 3-point shooting, led by Carson Konrade, who was 6 of 11 from beyond the arc and finished with 24 points. But an opportunistic defense that forced 10 steals and 20 turnovers helped the Busters pull away. Tyrell Springer led all scorers with 26 points and contributed 5 of those steals. Davon Anderson added 18 points. Garden outrebounded the All Stars 50-40, grabbing 19 offensive boards while allowing just 8 offensive rebounds. The Busters committed just 8 turnovers to the All Stars’ 20. Garden City shot 40% from the field, 38% from 3, but just 50% from the line, 9 out of 18.
