Take two: Buster women blown out again
Liberal, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-The Garden City Lady Broncbusters are winless after their first weekend of play in the 2014-2015 season after Hill ran away late in a 74-54 final from Seward County’s Pepsi Classic.
The Lady Busters trailed throughout the entire game, falling behind early 9-0 as they went scoreless for the first 5:30 of the contest. Hill opened up their lead to 13 by the midway point of the first half, but the Lady Busters kept fighting, cutting the Lady Rebel lead to just five by the break 29-24. A quick three by Odyssey Trussell to start the second half got Garden City to within two, but they couldn’t keep the momentum as in the next five minutes Hill distanced themselves back out to a 12 point advantage. That was it for the Lady Busters who Hill seemed to have had an answer for after every Garden run. The Lady Rebels went up by as many as 24 before going on to win 74-54.
Garden continued to struggle scoring the basketball, shooting just 29% in the contest and once again couldn’t find the basket from deep, going just 4 for 18 from three point land. The Lady Busters also turned the ball over 28 times and were outrebounded for the second straight game. No Garden City players reached double figures in the loss as Justina James and Kate Inchun led the way with 9 points each.
The Lady Busters fell to 0-2 on the year and will take that record into next weekend’s Buster Shootout in the Dennis Perryman Athletic Complex. Garden will take on Western Oklahoma State at 5:30 Thursday followed by 5:30 dates Friday and Saturday with Lamar and Frank Phillips.
