Buffs soccer finishes regular season in fine style; Busters rock KC
Hays, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-Less than 24 hours after Erik Barragan set the single-season scoring mark at Garden City, and Head Coach Joaquin Padilla picked up his 300th career victory, the Buffs were at it again; their fifth game in eight days.
No matter the hectic schedule-the Buffs got a second straight hat trick from freshman Alex Morales in a 6-0 win at Hays High School on Tuesday afternoon.
“We did a great job of pressuring them,” assistant coach Josue Negron said. “We didn’t let them turn around. We had somebody right there.”
Morales, who said Monday that he couldn’t wait for three more years, is definitely living in the moment. He scored in the 16th, 34th and 57th minutes (He’s scored eight in three matches since being called up from junior varsity) while David Amaro and Mario Bautista sprinked in goals (Amaro scored twice).
Garden City finishes the regular season at 12-4 while Hays dropped to 2-11-2.

Maria Paula Alatorre scored twice-one of those coming two minutes into the match in a 4-1 win over conference-rival Kansas City Tuesday night at Buster Stadium.
“I’m really happy for the girls,” Head Coach Charles Long said afterwards. “I don’t think it was our best game, but it’s good to get a conference win. And it’s even better because it was at home.”
After Alatorre’s quick goal, Kansas City tied it towards the end of the first half when Karla Montes found the back of the net. But the Busters quickly countered with goals by Sandra Mendoza and Guadalupe Cordovoa within 60 seconds of one another to take a 3-1 lead into the intermission.
Then Alatorre finished off her finest match of the season with her second goal in the 55th minute.
Garden City improved to 7-9-1 while the Lady Devils are now 1-11-1.
