Buster volleyball falls in five sets

Garden City, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-From the outsider’s perspective, Garden City volleyball is not that far off. Their coach sure agrees.

Harvey Sanders watched his Busters take a two sets to one lead only to lose back-to-back sets in heartbreaking fashion.

“We’re not that far away,” Sanders said afterwards. “We served it well; we did certain things well. I think we just lost our heads at times tonight.”

Trailing 5-0 early in the fourth set, Garden City (9-19, 3-10) made a game of it-rallying back to within three points. But they never really regained their footing and lost 25-20. In the finale, Colby dominated from the get to. Adrianna Sosnowska was sensational-setting the tone with some emphatic kills. The end result: a 15-10 fifth-set victory.

“Our girls learned a lot tonight,” Sanders said. “It was just that first set; we didn’t come ready to play volleyball.

Garden City lost the first set 17-25 but bounced back with 27-25 and 25-15 victories in the second and third frames.
