Potential College Merger Hits a Snag
Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Both Fort Hays State and Dodge City Community College have expressed concern about their proposed merger. Although committed to the process, Ft Hays President Doctor Mirta Martin told this week’s meeting of the Ford County/Dodge City Economic Development Corporation that DCCC is losing money.
If allowed to continue, will a merger become a liability for Fort Hays
Martin was unaware DCCC had even been running a deficit.
Martin believes DCCC needs to correct these problems from within. Meanwhile the DCCC Board of Trustees are reluctant to lose athletics.
Officials are looking to potentially join an alternative association that may allow Dodge City to continue athletics on their campus should they merge with Fort Hays.
