Buster volleyball strolls to victory over Dodge

Garden City, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-Garden City Coach Harvey Sanders couldn’t wait to get his team back home. After all it had been nearly 20 days since they played a match at the Perryman Athletic Complex. It was definitely worth the wait.

Freshman Taylor Lineenberger registered a match-high eight kills and Garden City responded with a three-set, 25-22, 25-15, 25-22 victory Wednesday night.

“She (Taylor) always comes to play,” Sanders said. “It’s been getting the other girls on the same page and on her level.”

After a first-set nail biter, the Busters (5-12, 2-3) rolled to a 10-point win in the second frame. But the final stanza would prove to be anything but easy.

Twice in the third set, Garden City had to come from behind. Then they held off the Conquistadors with Linenberger’s emphatic spike-sending Dodge City to their 14th straight loss.

“We finally got our middles into some rhythm and connecting with them a little bit,” Sanders said. “
