Governor Steps Up Fight Against Federal Intrusion
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The Kansas Farm Bureau sponsored an event Friday at the Finney County Fairgrounds which discussed the Environmental Protection Agencies attempt to broaden its power. The EPA wants to remove the word “navigable” from the “Waterways of the US Act”. Governor Sam Brownback attended the event and told farmers neither side sees eye to eye on this issue.
Public comments on the proposed rule change are being taken until mid-October at the EPA’s website. Brownback is also alarmed that the government wants to change rules that could put a burden on seniors and their caregivers.
Many of these workers stay overnight with their patients. Brownback says if enacted these new rules will affect 11,000 Kansans.
