Cole Dewey out as Buster basketball assistant
Garden City, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-After just one season, Buster men’s assistant basketball coach Cole Dewey resigned his position on Wednesday.
“We’re definitely going to miss him,” Head Coach Brady Trenkle said. “Cole did so much for this program.”
Dewey left to take an assistant coaching job at powerhouse South Plains.
“I spoke with Brady and he definitely made this transition period easy on me,” Dewey said. “It was an opportunity I just couldn’t pass up; they’re a program that’s won two national championships in the last few years.”
Before coming to Garden City, Dewey spent one season as a graduate assistant at his alma mater Campbell University. As a player, Dewey was instrumental in one of the most successful runs in program history.
The announcement for a new men’s assistant could come as early as Sunday.
