Lee Birdsill, age 76, of Ulysses, Kansas died Friday, August 1, 2014 at Kansas Medical Center in Andover, Kansas.  He was born August 1, 1938 in Edgewater, Colorado, the son of Vernon and Marguerite (Ogden) Birdsill.

Lee grew up and graduated high school in Granby, Colorado.  He married Shirley Shonyo in 1955 in Granby.  They lived in various places in Colorado, Nebraska to Ulysses; where they have lived for 30 years.  He was a manager for Dowell Schlumberger.  After he retired he worked at the school as a custodian, and the Bentwood Golf Course as a starter.  Lee enjoyed golfing, fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley of their home; sons, Albert “Skip” Birdsill Jr., of Ft. Dodge, Kansas, Jim Birdsill and wife Karen of Glendale, Arizona; daughters, Tammy Allen and husband Jess of Battle Creek, Michigan, Kimberly Helfenbein husband DeWayne of Gallup, New Mexico, Theresa (Terri) Pucket and husband David of Ulysses, Kansas; brothers, Ted Birdsill of Tabernash, Colorado, Jim Birdsill of Grand Junction, Colorado; 14 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the Bentwood Golf Course on the 18th Green in Ulysses, Kansas with Pastor Jess Allen officiating.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Lee Birdsill Golf Scholarship Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W.
