Garden City Sweeps Lakin; Wins Babe Ruth State Championship
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The Garden City Babe Ruth 13-15 baseball team needed two wins over Lakin to capture the state championship Monday. Mission accomplished. The Bombers had the home field advantage at Clint Lightner Field and they used their bats early and often in coasting to a 16-2 win in game one and 8-3 in game two. Garden City coach Travis Brunson praised his players for playing together.
Shortstop Griffin Brunson believed his team was capable of scoring enough when it counted.
The Bombers head off to Monroe County, Iowa for the Midwest Regional tournament August 6-11 for the right to play in the Babe Ruth World Series.
