A local match up in the 13-15 Year-Old State Babe Ruth Tournament
Garden City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Two teams just 20 miles apart will play for the right to win the 2014 Kansas Babe Ruth 13-15 Year-Old State Tournament in Garden City.
Lakin, the lone undefeated team in the tournament, faces Garden City in a double-elimination tournament today for the chance to be the state champion. On Saturday, Lakin shutout Parsons 11-0 to advance to Sunday’s semi-final game with Cottonwood Valley, where they won 10-4.
Garden City has taken the long road to reach the title game. After their 5-4 loss to Cottonwood Valley on Saturday, they went on to double up Wellington 10-5 later that day. On Sunday, they won two more games to advance to the title game. Garden City took down Parsons 8-1, before avenging their lone loss of the tournament in a 3-2 win over Cottonwood Valley.
Today’s game begins at 11 am. If Garden City would win that game, they and Lakin would play a winner take all at 1:30.
