Area golfers play at Kansas Match Play Championships

Mission Hills, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The 104th Annual Kansas Match Play Championships continue at at Mission Hills Country Club in Mission Hills. On Tuesday, it was stroke play, with several southwest Kansans participating.

The top area golfers in stroke play were Sean Thayer and Trenton Specht from Garden City, who are tied for 24th with a round of 72. Dodge City’s Zach Kirby was a shot behind in a 43rd place tie with a round of 73. Also playing was Garden City’s Daniel Gaspar who shot a 75, and is in a tie for 67th, and Juan Ollarzabal, also from Garden City, tied for 125th with a score of 80.

The second round of stroke play is today, as the low 64 scores in a round of 36 holes will advance on to the match play bracket.
