High Water, Minor Damage From Overnight Storms
Garden City/Holcomb, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Overnight storms that worked their way through the area left a reminder of how much rain fell hours after everything passed.
Workers on site say a drainage issue left a foot and a half of water on the rooftop at Adam’s Real Estate in downtown Garden City on the corner of Pine and Main. Crews working on the problem say the roof remains, but they need a pump to get the excess water off the roof.
Finney County Emergency Management Director Michael Paz-Torres says he received reports on a couple of homes that flooded, but other than that Garden City had only minor damage. There were several areas on the road from Garden City to Holcomb where warning signs told drivers to beware of standing water. Holcomb’s Community Park had a big pond left over from the heavy rains.
