Former Lady Buff Linkster Mackenzie Thayer Wins Kansas Junior Girls Tournament
Wichita-(www.westernkansasnews.com) Former Garden City High School Lady Buff Linkster Mackenzie Thayer collected another top price before heading off to college this fall, by winning the 52nd Kansas Junior Girls Golf Championship Tournament earlier this week. Thayer shot two back to back scores of 76 for a two day total of 152 to take the top honors in Wichita at the Tallgrass Country Club. Senior to be at Garden City and former teammate of Thayer, Abby Campbell placed 2nd, as she fired a 77 and 81 to finish six strokes back at 158. Thayer was the 6A individual Kansas State Champion last October in Kansas City at Shadow Glen Country Club. Both girls helped lead their Lady Buffs Golf Team to the runner-up spot in 2011. Mackenzie Thayer had a stellar career at Garden City High School and will take her talents to the University of Kansas this fall on Golf scholarship. The rest of the top five in the Kansas Junior Girls Tournament, had Taryn Torgerson of Buhler was 3rd, Audrey Meisch from Wichita placed 4th and Taelyn Entriken of Wichita rounded the top five.
