Dodge City bats awake; rout Windsor Co

Dodge City, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-In all fairness, it’s still early in the season. But when Dodge City Coach Phil Stephenson said his team wasn’t very good, his squad took exception; in a good way.

The A’s righted the ship Wednesday night-soundly beating Windsor Co, Colo. 11-3 at Cavalier Field-ending a six-game losing streak.

“We finally got some things to go our way,” Stephenson said after the game. “Our offense finally got going.”

Dodge City (2-6) revved things up in the top of the first-plating five runs, spearheaded by Brian Romero’s grand slam. He finished 2-for-5 at the dish-driving in six of the A’s 11 runs.

Brad Jarreau’s RBI single in the fourth pushed the lead to 6-0; then Romero’s 2-run single busted the game open in the fifth.

The A’s pounded out 15 hits while pitcher Trent Lare tossed a five-inning, two-hit gem-striking out six.

Beavers hurler Brad Honeycutt yielded eight runs on 11 hits in five innings of work.

Next up: Dodge City vs. Windsor Co-Thursday, June 12-7 p.m.
