Law hires defensive line coach
Dodge City, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-Ed Flanagan, a former NFL player and a veteran coach, has joined the staff of Dodge City Law Head Coach Sean Ponder following the departure of Todd Middleton.
After spending ten years with the Detroit Lions and two years with the San Diego Chargers, Flanagan began a coaching career which has spanned nearly 40 years. During that time, Flanagan has coached at multiple levels including JUCO, NCAA, USFL, and professional indoor football.
Most recently, Flanagan coached alongside Ponder while the two were members of the Cedar Rapids Titans (IFL) coaching staff in 2013. Prior to that time together, Flanagan and Ponder worked together at four other points during their lengthy coaching careers.
Ponder believes that Flanagan’s experience will enable him to come in and make an immediate impact on the Law players as they play their final regular-season home game and head into the playoffs.
“Coach Flanagan has encountered about every situation imaginable during his long coaching career,” Ponder said. “He is getting here right as our season winds down, but I think he will be able to jump right in and help get our guys ready for the big games that lay ahead. Coach Flanagan knows what it takes to succeed as a player and he knows what teams have to do in order to win. I know our players will benefit from having him around.”
