GCCC baseball player killed in car crash

Concordia, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-Garden City Community College baseball player Tyler Alitz was killed in a car crash Wednesday night in Concordia. 

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Alitz was traveling northbound on Lincoln Street in his 2000 Toyota Avalon when his vehicle collided head on with a 2014 Dodge RAM driven by 27-year old by Kyle Glassman.

Alitz was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:12 p.m. Glassman remains at Cloud County Health Center. His condition was not immediately known. 

 

The accident happened at approximately 4:12 p.m. Neither driver was wearing their seat belt. 

“Our deepest condolences go out to Tyler and his family,” said Garden City Community College sports information director Dan Delgado. “He was a great young man and a true Buster.”

The Omaha native played two seasons for Head Coach Chris Finnegan and was instrumental in the Busters run to the Region VI semifinals.

The sophomore signed with Moorehead State last week.
