K-State fans gather in Scott City for annual K-State Fry

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Nearly 400 people attended the 51st Annual K-State Fry Wednesday night at HRC Feedyard west of Scott City. This stop was the third of five consecutive stops on the K-State Catbackers annual western Kansas tour. Their first two nights were in Dodge City on Monday and Garden City on Tuesday. They will be making stops in Colby Thursday and Hays Friday. 

Among the speakers were the Kansas State University President Kirk Schulz, “Voice of the Wildcats” Wyatt Thompson, volleyball coach Suzie Fritz, men’s basketball coach Bruce Weber, new women’s basketball coach Jeff Mittie, and student-athletes from the equestrian, men’s basketball and football teams, including Dodge City’s Laton Dowling and Scott City’s Colborn Couchman and Luke Hayes. Football coach Bill Snyder and Athletic Director John Currie were unable to attend. 

Also during the event, items ranging from an autographed picture and 16 goals from coach Bill Snyder, to loge seats at a men’s basketball game were auctioned off for the Ahearn Fund.
