Buffs golf rules the field; First at Liberal
Liberal, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-For the first time in the Walker Frey era, the Buffalo golf team ruled the field.
Freshman Taylor Larsen, who was named the conference’s player of the year, was sensational-shooting a field-best 73 as Garden City shot their way to a first-place finish at Willow Tree Golf Course in Liberal.
“It was awesome,” Larsen said afterwards. “This was our coach’s first victory. Hopefully we can ride this momentum all the way to state.”
The other freshman Logan Durst fired a 78 followed by Tucker Schiffelbein (84); Austin Swender (84); Connor Schultz (86) and Brendan Hopkins (93).
Meantime Levi Bone’s 80 paced Dodge City to a third place finish. WAC champ Hays was second, Great Bed fourth; Liberal last.
