Hays, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-Walker Frey’s Buffaloes needed a change of scenery. After all they were coming off a seventh place finish just 24 hours earlier in Manhattan. A new course and a new attitude definitely helped on Tuesday.

Garden City shaved 20 points of their team score to finish their round at the Bob Blazer Hays High Invitational with a 340-good for fourth place out of five teams.

“The course was still difficult,” Frey said afterwards. “It was kind of the same layout, and the wind was blowing harder than it was Monday. But the kids really bounced back nicely.”

Garden City got another strong performance by Taylor Larsen-who’s 77 was a team best and good enough for runner-up medalist honors. He fired a 37 on the back nine. Logan Durst shot an 84 while Connor Schultz finished with an 87; Tucker Schiffelbein 92, Tristan Corrales 95 and Austin Swender 97.

Dodge City, who finished five shots back of first-place Hutch, saw Levi Bone score a 74-his lowest total of the season.

Team Scores: Hutch (326), Dodge City (331), Hays (333), Garden City (340), Goodland (342)
