Dodge City, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-The Dodge City Law and the Circle of Hope Foundation have formed a partnership to help raise awareness about cancer and raise funds for the cause.

On Saturday, April 19, the Law players will be wearing pink jerseys and using pink footballs when they take on the Lincoln Haymakers at United Wireless Arena.

The special edition jerseys and balls will be used in order to honor cancer survivors and victims, as well attract attention to the issue.

“It isn’t very often that you see 300-pound men wearing pink shirts and playing with a pink football,” Ricky Bertz, the owner and general manager of the team, said.

“Hopefully, the oddity of seeing pink on the football field will be a conversation starter for people in the stands.”

After the game, fans will have the opportunity to bid on the jerseys during a live auction, which will take place on the football field.  All proceeds from the auction will be presented to the Circle of Hope Foundation next week.

“These jerseys are one-of-a-kind items,” Bertz said.  “There isn’t any other place to get a pink Dodge City Law jersey.  I am sure there will be a lot of fans interested in taking one or a few home.  Hopefully, we will be able to present Circle of Hope with a big check next week.”
