Buffs track second at Maize
Maize, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-The Garden City girls and boys track teams definitely left their mark Friday in Maize.
The girls raced to a first place finish with 213 points, while the boys finished second-34 points behind first-place Maize.
A week after the first place finish in the long jump at Ulysses, Taryn Tempel followed it up with a top spot in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00:88. She joined Aileen Gurrola (third), Taylor Linenberger (fourth) and Kyra Bellows (fifth) in the top five.
Senior Kayla doll stampeded to a win in the 800 meters-besting Junction City’s Rosie Hollis by a good seven seconds. Doll wasn’t finished-finishing first in the 1600 meters followed by fellow senior Alex Miller. Miller took home the title in the 3200 meters; Chelsea Jackson finished second. Kaylee Kipp fwas first in shot put.
In the relays, the Garden City girls won the 4×400 and the 4×800.
On the boys side-Greyson Tempel raced to a third place finish in the 100 meters; he was third in the 200 meters. Jesus Reyes won the 800 meters and Eric Chaparro was second in the 3200. The Buffs finished second in the 4×100 relay and first in the 4×800.
