Seward County Takes Softball Doubleheader in Garden City
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Garden City Community College softball coach Becky Gundy summed it up this way after her team was swept by Seward County Wednesday 15-5 and 14-2.
The players were exhausted after running a series of laps after the game that took 20 minutes. Oddly enough, things looked promising in the first game after the Broncbusters used a 3 run 3rd inning to tie the game at 4-4 sparked by a two run homer from freshman Liberty Nelson. Unfortunately, the Saints scored 11 runs over the final three innings off Garden City starting pitcher Rachel Roe to pull away.
Once again in game two the big inning did in the Broncbusters. The Saints used a 5 run 4th and 7 run fifth inning to run rule Garden City 14-2. Tiffany Bolanos led the Saints with a homer, knocking in five. Jessica Soliday took the loss in game two.
Garden City is back at it Friday with a doubleheader against Otero in La Junta, Colorado. The first game begins at 1pm.
