Empower Yourself Against Severe Weather
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) As we turn our attention from the cold winter to a stormy spring. The National Weather Service had storm spotter training yesterday at the Finney County Fairgrounds. Jeff Hutton with the NWS explained that there are weather related events even more dangerous than tornadoes.
Tornadoes can pop up in a moments notice. This particular type of tornado is often the most dangerous.
They do it for the thrill, the adventure and to get a good look of mother nature at its worst. Hutton says before you go out to storm chase, he would ask you to reconsider.
For example, Hutton mentioned a Weather Channel crew while chasing last year were caught in the devastating tornado at Moore, Oklahoma that killed 36 people.
