Lena Owen

Lena Owen, 91 of Garden City, Kansas died Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Homestead Health & Rehabilitation Center in Garden City, Kansas. She was born November 30, 1921 in Wichita County, Kansas the daughter of Ernest & Wilma Hazel (Botts) Scheuerman.

Lena lived most of her life in Western Kansas. On June 25, 1942 she married Lloyd Trexler in Garden City, Kansas. Lena moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1960. On April 13, 1974, Lena married Hailey Owen in Phoenix, Arizona. They moved back to Garden City and Lena has lived in Garden City since. A homemaker, Lena also worked as a bookkeeper with her husband Hailey at Owen’s

Foreign Car Repair. Lena was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and she enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, and gardening.

Survivors include her three children Gerald Trexler of Watson, Minnesota; Robert Trexler of Crestview, Florida; & Linda Bernardy of Garden City, Kansas; a brother Richard Scheuerman of Morgan, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Lena is preceded in death by her husband Hailey who died on July 20, 1992. She is also preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation: Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at St. James Lutheran Church in Garden City, Kansas with Pastor Anthony J. Striffler and Pastor Dennis FitzPatrick officiating.

Interment: Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
