Scott City drops matches in triangular
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–It was a tough Thursday for the Scott City Lady Beaver Volleyball team, as they dropped a pair of home matches to Southwestern Heights and Cimarron.
In their first match, the Lady Beavers jumped out to a 6-1 lead early on, but Southwestern Heights came back. After the first set was tied at 15, the Lady Mustangs pulled away to lead 23-16. Scott City followed with five straight, but fell short 25-21. After starting down 3-0, the Lady Beavers rallied to lead 4-3, which would be their only lead of the set. Southwestern Heights built a lead at 17-11, and Scott City rallied to tie the set at 17, 18, 19 and 21. The Mustangs pulled away with the final four points to win 25-21 in the second set and completed the sweep.
After a break, the Lady Beavers faced Cimarron in the final match of the evening. Like their first match, Scott City built an early lead only to see the Lady Blue Jays storm back. They did so in a big way, taking down the Lady Beavers 25-18. Cimarron controlled the second set, and won convincingly 25-15.
In the second match of the day, Cimarron defeated Southwestern Heights 25-16, 25-17.
After Thursday, Scott City is now 4-12 on the season, and will next compete in the Oakley Invitational Saturday, October 5.
