Bombers win slugfest
Lyons, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-It took more than three hours in the sweltering heat, but in the end Finney County was the one left standing. The Bombers slugged out a 14-13 win over Frontenac in the quarterfinals of the Babe-Ruth State Tournament on Sunday afternoon.
“It was an exciting game,” said Finney starter Nick Laureles, who struck out four in four innings of work. “The thing that kept us in the game was our bats. It was a good learning experience.”
The win moves the Bombers into the semifinals where they’ll face off with Spring River Monday at 1 pm.
