Lady Buster Basketball Coach Alaura Sharp Leaves for Division I position in Mississippi-Audio
Garden City, KS (www.westernkansasnews.com) – The Garden City Community College Athletic Department has announced the resignation of Head women’s Basketball Coach Alaura Sharp, as she is leaving for a Division I position at Southern Mississippi in Hattisburg, Mississippi. Coach Sharp will be an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Lady Golden Eagles. Sharp came to Garden City after a one year stint at Lamar Community College in Colorado and turned the Lady Busters program into a top contender each year in the tough Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference and Region VI. For each of the last two seasons the Lady Busters have finished runner-up in the Jayhawk West and made it to the semi-final game of the Region VI Tournament. Coach Sharp guided the Lady Busters to their best record in school history at 29-4 and Coach Sharp’s career coaching record at Garden City is 83-45 and has the highest winning percentage at (640%) for all women’s coaches prior to Coach Sharp. Coach Sharp also produced and All-American player in Tamara Jones from Prosser, Washington over the last two years.
