BQA Workshop To Be Held August 21 At Hy-Plains Feedyard

New this year, Certified Angus Beef® (CAB) will be hosting a post-event workshop following their Feeding Quality Forum August 20-21 in Dodge City. The free workshop will focus on Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) and will be held at Hy-Plains Feedyard near Montezuma from 1:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. August 21.

Attendees will see the feedyard’s on-site research facility and participate in a BQA training. Plus, Kansas State University men’s basketball coach Jerome Tang will be on hand to talk about how it takes every player on a team to win.

The educational session and BQA certification will be led by veterinarian Bob Smith with Veterinary Research and Consulting Services and K-State extension beef veterinarian A.J. Tarpoff. Topics
to be covered include herd health, cattle handling and other best management practices necessary to raise high-quality beef. The training will be offered in both English and Spanish. This feedyard-focused BQA training is designed for feedyard managers and their employees for continued education.

Participants do not have to register for the Feeding Quality Forum to attend the training. However, registration is requested for materials and refreshment purposes. To register for the BQA workshop, go to

The workshop is sponsored by CAB and Sysco, as part of the Raised with RespectTM cattle care initiative.
