Garden City, KS-Chalk up win number one for first-year coach, Jacob Sander.

Vitoria Stedile had 18 digs, Vitoria Reis produced 23 assists, and Garden City earned their first victory of the season with a 25-21, 25-19, 25-19 win over Northeast Nebraska Saturday afternoon on day three of the Scooter’s Invitational.

Katarina Miscevic hit .625 with three aces, and two blocks for the Broncbusters, which improved to 1-2.

After the Broncbusters seized control late in the opening set, the home team went on the offensive in the second. They scored six straight points to open a 15-6 advantage; then pushed that to double digits following a pair of Reis’ aces that made it 18-7. They held on for a six-point win.

“They are beginning to play with a bit more confidence,” Sander said afterwards. “They’re getting more comfortable with one another.”

In the third, Garden City broke open a 10-10 deadlock with a 7-1 run, punctuated by a pair of Miscevic service aces. But the play of the day happened moments later when Olivia Majher powered home a kill that was all setup after a tremendous diving dig by Stedile. Majher then blocked Jayda Christensen’s attack, Kamdyn Carr dropped in a perfect serve, and Garden City rolled to the finish line.
