Scott City football looking to take the next step
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–After back to back 8-2 seasons, the Scott City Beaver football team is looking to get more physical and take the next step in the playoffs.
Around 55 players make up of thet 2024 Scott City football team that will be replacing three players in the backfield, as well as two to three starters on the offensive line. Defensively, the Beavers will have plenty returning in the linebacker and defensive back positions, but are looking to solidify positions along the interior of the defensive line.
Scott City does return all-league selections in Jackson Rumford, Camden Vulgamore, Alex Tarango and Oscar Mendez.
Two changes to the schedule this year, as Hoisington will be on the schedule in week three, as the Class 2A runners-up from 2023 will be in Scott City. Ulysses returns to the schedule in week four after a two-year hiatus. The Beavers will also face preseason No. 1 in Class 1A in Colorado in the Wray Eagles in week two. The district will remain the same with Hugoton, Holcomb, Goodland and Colby.
Jim Turner is entering his ninth season as the Scott City head coach, and the staff remains the same with Brian Gentry, Todd Richardson, Michael McEachern, Colborn Couchman, Derek Brau and Drew Kite.
