Garden City, Kan.–The City Commission has selected a name for the new community park coming to Garden City.

At the August 20, City Commission meeting the Governing Body approved naming the new community park in southeast Garden City in honor of Bob Halloran and the indelible mark his tenure as Assistant City Manager and as City Manager left on the community.

Bob Halloran’s leadership catalyzed the progress in infrastructure and retail business development which made Garden City the regional hub of Western Kansas. A support letter from State Senator John Doll described Bob Halloran as, “progressive while being able to keep our mill levy one of the lowest in the state of Kansas for Cities in our class,” and as having “a knack for being able to steer the opportunities into reality.”

Eight nominations were received and voted on by the Parks and Recreation board before being brought before the Governing Body for consideration.

The park is set for completion in the spring of 2025.
