Arson fire being investigated in Garden City

Garden City, Kan.–Fire officials in Garden City are investigating a fire that is believe to be an arson.

Around 5:45 a.m. Monday morning, the Garden City Fire Department was dispatched to the report of a structure fire at 1027 N. Boots Road in Garden City.
 
Upon arrival, fire personnel identified a single-story residential structure with heavy fire visible from all windows. Personnel established a water supply, completed initial knock-down of the fire, and completed the primary and secondary searches of the structure. The home was confirmed to be vacant.
 
The fire was called under control just after 6 a.m.
 
Fire Marshal Robertson notified the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s office of the fire and requested assistance with the investigation. During the investigation, Accelerant Detection Canine Karma alerted multiple areas of the home for possible accelerants.
 
The cause of the fire was determined to be arson and the investigation is ongoing.
 
No injuries were reported, and no damage estimates are known at this time.
