House explosion injures one in Garden City
Garden City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–A house explosion in Garden City injured one over the weekend.
Just after 7 p.m. on Saturday, the Garden City Fire Department was dispatched to the report of an explosion at 802 West Fair Street, Garden City, Kansas.
Upon arrival, fire personnel found one home that had significant damage due to an explosion with a large debris field surrounding the site. One victim was treated and transported by Finney County Emergency Medical Services to St. Catherine Hospital.
Black Hills Energy was dispatched to the scene to shut off the gas supply in the affected area, and the City of Garden City Electric department was dispatched due to a downed power line. The City of Garden City Street department also responded to the scene for debris removal.
The Kansas State Fire Marshal’s office was notified of the explosion and has been requested to assist with the investigation. The explosion is currently under investigation and no cause has been determined. No damage estimates are known at this time.
While the investigation is being completed, Fair Street will be closed between 9th Street and 11th Street, and 10th Street will be closed between Fair and Hamline Streets.
