Class 3A: Holcomb boys win state title; Cimarron girls 13th

Wichita, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–It was a big day for Holcomb and Lakin’s boys at this year’s Class 3A State Track & Field championships at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.

Starting off on the girls side, Cimarron would be the top area team, finishing in 13th place, Lakin was 18th and Holcomb finished in 19th place. Southwestern Heights did not score. For the Lady Bluejays, Taegan Eskam was second in the 300M Low Hurldes, and Janae Fugitt was third in the 1600M Run. Holcomb’s 4x400M Relay placed second. Lakin’s Aryn Michaelis was fourth in the high jump.

The Holcomb boys would win the Class 3A State title with 80 points. Lakin just missed out on a trophy and finished in fourth place overall. Cimarron did not score. The Longhorns broke the meet record and the school record in the 4x800M Relay. Brody Deniston was second in the 3200M Run and the 800M Run. Lakin’s Colter Oldham won the Shot Put and Discus events.
