Scott City names Cano head volleyball coach

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Scott City will have a new volleyball coach on the sidelines this fall. On Monday, Hugo Cano was officially approved by the USD 466 Board of Education to be the new head coach for the Lady Beaver volleyball program.

The Perryton, TX native is no stranger to southwest Kansas. He was the head coach for the Liberal Lady Redskins from 2005-2009 and is currently an assistant coach and teacher in Whitehouse, Texas. He will teach Business as well at Scott Community High School.

Cano will take over a program that finished 18-17 in 2023, and will have several returning starters and contributors from last year. He takes over for Lauren Robinson, who stepped down after three seasons last fall.
